Custom Injection Molding for Consumer Products & Packaging

ABERY develops injection molds and manufactures custom plastic products and packaging components for consumer brands and OEMs. From DFM and tooling to color and finish approval, inspection, assembly and repeat production, each program is defined around your product requirements, target volume and launch schedule.
Send your 3D CAD, 2D drawing, material requirements, target quantity, color or finish standard and launch date. NDA support is available.
Consumer Program Priorities

What Consumer Brands Need Before Scaling Production

A successful consumer product must balance launch timing, tooling investment, unit cost, appearance, function and supply continuity. These requirements should be agreed before tooling begins—not corrected after mass production starts.

A Defined Development Schedule

Project timing should identify design freeze, DFM approval, tool construction, material availability, T1 sampling, color and texture approval, functional testing and production release. Lead time begins after the required inputs and approvals are complete.

Tooling and Unit-Cost Planning

Cavity count, tool construction, runner system, cycle target and automation should be selected around forecast volume, product life, change risk and total cost—not a universal annual-volume threshold.

Approved Appearance and Function Standards

Color, gloss, texture, visible defects, assembly fit and functional tests should be defined with measurable acceptance criteria. Approved samples and master standards help maintain consistency across production lots.

From DFM and Tooling to Repeat Production

1. DFM and Tooling Strategy

We review wall thickness, ribs, bosses, draft, gate location, parting lines, sink, weld lines, ejection and visible surfaces before tooling. Prototype and production tooling options are selected according to the required material, quantity, finish and design maturity.

2. Cavity and Cost Engineering

We compare cavity count, runner design, expected cycle time, material use, tool cost and production demand before recommending a mold configuration. Multi-cavity and hot-runner solutions are evaluated project by project.

3. Color, Texture and Decoration Control

Color can be developed from a Pantone or RAL reference or, preferably, an approved physical master. The project standard should define material, texture, gloss, lighting, measurement method and acceptable color difference. Printing, labeling, hot stamping, coating and other finishes are confirmed according to the approved process and artwork.

4. Inspection, Assembly and Production Planning

Inspection and assembly requirements are defined in the project quality plan. Depending on scope, support may include dimensional checks, appearance standards, assembly inspection, functional testing, packaging and production planning for seasonal demand.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q How quickly can you provide first molded samples?

    A

Timing depends on part complexity, tool type, material availability, surface requirements and project approvals. For suitable simple or medium-complexity parts, rapid-tool samples may be possible within approximately 7–15 working days after DFM approval and design release. The confirmed schedule is stated in the quotation.

  • Q What is the minimum order quantity for a consumer product?

    A

MOQ is defined project by project. Prototype and pilot quantities may be possible, but setup, material, color, decoration, assembly and packaging requirements affect the practical minimum and unit cost. Please provide the launch quantity and annual forecast so we can compare suitable tooling and production options.

  • Q How do you control color and surface appearance?

    A

We establish an approved master using the specified resin, color reference, texture and gloss. The quality plan can define viewing conditions, instrumental color measurement, acceptable color difference, visible-defect limits and sampling frequency. Final standards must be approved before production release.

  • Q Can you support decoration, assembly and seasonal production planning?

    A

Depending on the project, we can coordinate printing, labeling, hot stamping, coating, multi-piece assembly, inspection and packaging. Seasonal production, safety stock and delivery plans require an agreed forecast, capacity review, inventory ownership, storage terms and release schedule. In-house and partner operations are identified in the quotation.

  • Q Can you support food-contact or toy-component projects?

    A

Yes, subject to project qualification. We manufacture to customer-approved drawings and material specifications and can retain defined material and production records. The customer is responsible for identifying applicable regulations, approving the final material and product design, arranging required third-party testing, and confirming final-market compliance.
