The right next step depends on what has already been designed and what still needs to be proven. ABERY first identifies the available inputs, unresolved risks and approval criteria.

You Have CAD, but Manufacturability Is Unclear

Your model may work visually but still need changes to wall thickness, draft, ribs, bosses, undercuts, parting lines, gates, tolerances or assembly features before tooling.

You Have a Prototype, but It Is Not Production-Representative

A 3D-printed or CNC prototype can confirm shape and basic function, but its material behavior, surface, tolerance and assembly performance may differ from an injection-molded part. The next prototype should answer a defined engineering question.

You Need to Protect Design Information and Control Changes

Before files are shared, the project should define NDA coverage, authorized access, subcontractor controls, file retention, mold ownership and how design revisions are approved.

A Practical Path From Product Input to Production

1. Requirements and Manufacturing Review

We review the available product brief, CAD, drawings, prototypes, mating parts, functional requirements, target market, expected volume and validation needs. Missing inputs and major manufacturing risks are identified before a tooling recommendation is made.

2. DFM, Material and Prototype Strategy

The team reviews part geometry, candidate materials and the most useful next validation method. Depending on the question, this may involve an updated CAD model, 3D-printed sample, CNC prototype, soft tool or prototype injection mold.

3. Production Tooling and Molded-Sample Approval

After the customer approves the design inputs and mold specification, ABERY develops the production tool and runs initial trials. Samples are evaluated against the agreed dimensional, appearance, assembly and functional criteria.

4. Pilot Production and Repeat-Supply Planning

Once the required sample corrections and approvals are complete, the project can move into a pilot lot. Process, inspection, packaging and change-control requirements are confirmed before repeat production.

Quotation-stage feedback identifies major manufacturability and tooling risks. A detailed DFM review is completed to the agreed project scope and approved before mold design is released.

Sample Review and Corrections

How We Manage T1 Findings and Design Changes

The purpose of T1 is to reveal what the initial tool and molded part show under recorded trial conditions. Approval depends on the agreed drawing, material, appearance, assembly and functional requirements—not on the trial number alone.
Initial Trial and Sample Report
ABERY records the trial conditions, reviews the molded samples and provides the inspection or evaluation output included in the project scope.
Mold-Workmanship Corrections
If an issue is confirmed to result from mold manufacturing or from ABERY's approved mold design, corrective work is handled according to the tooling agreement.
Product-Design or Requirement Changes
New features, changed dimensions, different materials or acceptance requirements introduced after approval are documented through the change process, including their cost and schedule impact.
Re-Trial and Approval
The mold is re-trialed after agreed corrections. The customer approves the sample and any remaining deviations before the project moves to pilot production.

    Not always. The right method depends on design maturity, required material fidelity, quantity and the risk being tested. A 3D print, CNC prototype, soft tool or prototype injection mold may each be appropriate. We compare the options before recommending additional tooling investment.

  • Q How do you protect confidential product information?

    A

    We can sign an NDA before files are shared. Project access, approved recipients, subcontractor disclosure, file retention and return or deletion requirements can be defined in the agreement. Please identify any special security requirements before transfer.

  • Q What happens when changes are needed after T1?

    A

    We compare each finding with the approved DFM, mold design, drawing, resin and acceptance criteria. Confirmed mold-workmanship corrections are handled according to the tooling agreement. Product-design changes, new features, material changes or revised requirements follow the agreed engineering-change process.

  • Q How do I know whether injection molding is the right process?

    A

    The decision depends on geometry, material, required properties, quantity, product life, tooling budget, unit-cost target and validation needs. There is no universal 500-piece threshold. We compare the intended outcome with prototype, machining, soft-tooling and production-tooling options before recommending injection molding.
